Legal AI Start-up, Cognitiv+, Joins Winton Labs Accelerator Programme

AI-driven legal contract analysis and compliance start-up, Cognitiv+ has joined Winton Labs’ accelerator programme as part of its developmental plan. The programme will culminate in a demo day on 10 February 2017.

The project the UK legal AI company has joined is an accelerator for early-stage startups involved in the creation of data, or the application of data science.

Cognitiv+ is one of five start-ups joining the new cohort in the accelerator programme.

screen-shot-2016-10-16-at-14-43-42Winton Labs is a startup accelerator for data science companies, mainly from Europe. The Data Science Startups programme will be run as a collaboration between investment management and data technology firm Winton and VC firm Winton Ventures.

Whilst the programme will leverage this expertise, it is not set to resemble a classic corporate accelerator. Much of the mentorship will come from an external network of startup experts, technologists and academics.

The three month programme will take place in the ‘The Lab’ co-working space at Winton’s London HQ. There will be three streams of mentors:

  • Business Unit: these are business leaders from within Winton, as well as large corporates and SMEs.
  • Data Science & Technology: these are drawn from Winton’s extensive pool of researchers and data experts, our deep network of academic partners, and leading data scientists from the startup ecosystem.
  • Entrepreneurship: these mentors are experienced founders, investors and advisors.

A previous accelerator programme run by Winton included CheckRecipient, the machine learning email security system. Cogntiv+ was also featured in a story on the start up in Artificial Lawyer.

The news comes as other  investors and accelerators of legal tech continue to grow their portfolios, including NextLaw Labs and Seedcamp.
