Neota Nabs High Profile COO; Wins Global Law Firm Freshfields as Client

Legal expert systems company Neota Logic has hired Andrew Shimek, as President and Chief Operating Officer from Epiq. This marks another top level management move among the fast-growing group of legal tech companies.

Also this week, Neota has announced a formal collaboration with UK-based global law firm Freshfields. The step up to formal client follows a year-long period of piloting Neota’s expert system technology inside the 2,800-lawyer firm.

Meanwhile, in relation to the hire, other tech companies have also made senior moves. Recently, leading UK legal AI company, RAVN, made CSO David Lumsden its new CEO. The move by Lumsden, who had also previously been CEO of UK tech company Tikit, is seen as a clear sign the new wave of legal tech companies are growing up and therefore need new kinds of managers as both the companies and the market for advanced legal tech grows.
