Legal AI Co. Leverton Partners with PropTech Co. Landscape

Legal and property AI company LEVERTON has allied with leading proptech company, Landscape, as part of a broader partnering campaign with other tech and consulting businesses.

Landscape is well known among real estate lawyers, especially in the UK, where it works with many of the largest law firms, including most of the Magic Circle. It provides a range of proptech and legal compliance solutions that help lawyers handle compliance, property tax and document management issues related to real estate transactions.

The latest partnership will see the two companies work together in an effort to improve lease management and due diligence processes, combining Landscape’s specialist knowledge and software with Germany-based Leverton’s AI-driven document analysis capabilities.

Interestingly, Landscape also integrates with Thomson Reuters’ Contract Express document automation system and also property management system, Horizon, further widening Leverton’s software connectivity, at least indirectly.

Leverton and Landscape’s systems will be connected seamlessly through an API. The aim is to create an integration between the software used for different types of legal work related to property transactions, from managing a sale, to analysing key aspects of leases and other legal documents with AI, to modelling tax liabilities on property sales.

Adrian Dixon, a director at Landscape, added: ‘Within this new environment, we’ve created the interfaces to Leverton and Contract Express (CE) and we’re investigating others at present.’

‘[We are also] extracting data from Leverton-scanned leases and onwardly processing it, but the CE interface is also of major importance to our clients. We have many legal clients who use CE to capture information about a transaction and produce intelligent documents from it,’ he explained.

Dixon went on to add that after adding to the data and processing it as required in their system, they can then export data into a CE template to create, for example, a post-SDLT letter to send to a client, so the interface is two-way, into and out of Landscape.

Richard Belgrave

Richard Belgrave, Managing Director at Leverton, said: ‘The partnership with Landscape Software is another important step to amplify our ecosystem of potential target systems. This enables our own, and our partners’ clients to utilise an end-to-end solution for their contract and document management.’

Landscape, which is based in Reading, UK, has a premier client base already, with the likes of Allen & Overy, Linklaters, Ashurst, BLP, Freshfields, Gowling WLG, Hogan Lovells and many other firms and corporates listed as using its software.

Leverton has been on a campaign of partnership building over the last 12 months, starting formal relationships with a range of businesses, from data giant SAP to more recently accountancy software company AMANA Consulting in order to develop applications to handle the new lease accounting standards, IFRS 16 and US GAAP ASC 842.
