Dan Katz’s Legal Analytics Co. LexPredict Partners with Elevate

US legal analytics company LexPredict, co-founded by the well-known legal tech pioneer and AI expert, Dan Katz, has partnered with hybrid legal services provider, Elevate, to launch a new strategic technology initiative called ‘ME2’.

ME2 stands for Machines and Expertise in Everything. The companies said in a joint statement that the first step in their partnership will be to provide customers with the combined consulting capability of Elevate and LexPredict ‘to attack problems previously too large or complex for standard business intelligence and data mining tools’.

LexPredict’s data scientists and analysts will integrate with Elevate’s customer engagement teams, allowing them, it is hoped, to understand customer needs, navigate access issues, and support solutions going forward. Longer term, the companies added they are seeking to improve Elevate software products such as Cael, by integrating them with advanced analytics and machine learning features.

The news of the partnership between the legal data analysis company and the larger legal services provider, Elevate, comes just a week after UK-based legal AI company, RAVN, was acquired by US legal document management company, iManage. However, in this case it is understood that the deal between LexPredict and its larger partner will preserve either party’s independence.

Liam Brown, Founder and Chairman of Elevate, said: ‘The partnership improves Elevate’s Cael software products with advanced analytics and machine learning features and provides customers with the combined consulting capability of Elevate and LexPredict to address problems that might have been too large or unfit for standard business intelligence and data mining tools in the past.’

‘LexPredict’s data scientists and analysts will integrate with Elevate’s experienced customer engagement teams, allowing them to quickly understand customer needs, navigate access, and support solutions going forward,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Katz, who is also Associate Professor of Law at Illinois Tech – Chicago Kent College of Law, said: ‘Change has come to the legal industry and Elevate’s leadership have proven they are visionaries in understanding this change.’

Elevate offers clients a range of services and employs consultants, lawyers, process engineers and technologists. LexPredict focuses on legal analytics and legal data strategy consulting.

The new arrangement follows another deal with an alternative legal services provider in January this year. In that instance it was with LPO, Exigent, with LexPredict’s data analysis and machine learning capabilities seen as augmenting the document review work of the LPO’s team.
