Legal AI Integration with HighQ Gathers Pace

By E. Mikaelian

London-based legal AI company Luminance has announced that its software can now be integrated with collaboration and data room platform HighQ. The move comes just a week after Canadian AI rival Kira Systems also announced a similar integration with HighQ.

The new integration capability enables Luminance’s clients that use HighQ already as a file-sharing platform to automatically synchronise uploaded documents with the Luminance AI document review system.

As with the Kira integration, Luminance can now pull unstructured data from the HighQ data room and process it, thus streamlining the review process and improving access to data for legal teams and their clients on each side.

‘We are delighted to work with Luminance to add another layer of automated data intelligence to our platform and continue our strategy of integrating with the leading AI solutions that allow our clients to deliver smarter, more efficient legal services,’ said Stuart Barr, Chief Product and Strategy Officer at HighQ.

The decision to integrate the two systems will see Luminance join the UK’s first major legal AI company RAVN (now part of iManage) in the list of HighQ’s integration partners and extend its potential reach to HighQ’s own clients, which include four of the five Magic Circle law firms in the UK and around 40% of the Global 100 law firms by revenue.

The Luminance/HighQ news confirms a growing trend of system integrations in the legal technology space.

For an industry where, more often than not, an improvement over existing solutions does not overcome the difficulty of replacing legacy systems, it seems that such integrations may pave the way for a faster opening up to more efficient legal technology solutions.

Other recent examples of legal tech integrations include that of e-Discovery software kCura with analytics platform Videris; litigation financing startup Legalist with practice management software Clio; and Advanced Discovery with Ipro’s Automated Digital Discovery product.
