Al Pioneer eBrevia Partners With NewLaw Company Legility

Legal AI company, eBrevia, which is now part of Donnelley Financial Solutions (DFIN), will be able to offer its clients a flexible lawyering service via a partnership with US-based NewLaw business, Legility – and it will in turn be offering its AI capabilities to Legility’s clients for doc review.

Legility provides companies with a broad range of capabilities, from helping with ediscovery to providing managed solutions services to corporates. The company says that it has ‘more than 1,000 lawyers, engineers, consultants, technology and data specialists, and operational experts serving more than one-third of the Fortune 100 and one-quarter of the Am Law 200’.

In short this is very much a NewLaw style of business, offering everything from legal support to tech capabilities, which will now be boosted by the relationship with DFIN and AI doc review company eBrevia.

One of the many aspects to Legility.

Incidentally, eBrevia has been the main AI review tool used by Thomson Reuters’ LMS arm, which was just bought by EY, so they know a thing or two about large scale review projects for corporates.

However, it’s the ability for clients of eBrevia and DFIN to also tap Legility’s ‘on demand’ flexible lawyering service that caught Artificial Lawyer’s eye, especially in this week that has seen LOD expand in APAC and Linklaters launch its own lawyers on demand service by tapping its alumni network.

That said, from Legility’s point of view this is all about being able to use eBrevia’s AI tech in its review work.

Barry Dark, CEO, Legility, said: ‘At Legility, we are continually evaluating emerging tools and process improvements as a way to drive incremental value for our clients. After comprehensive testing of the eBrevia solution, we were able to demonstrate use cases where we could both condense project timeframes and improve the accuracy of results. This translates directly into client value and is a natural extension of our New Law business model.’

Ned Gannon, president, eBrevia, told Artificial Lawyer: ‘eBrevia’s core competency lies in the accuracy and utility of our contract analytics software that is used by a wide variety of corporations, law firms, audit/consulting firms, financial institutions and other entities and service providers.’

‘Our software complements Legility’s Enterprise Legal Solutions, which combine on-demand and deeply experienced attorneys with advanced tools, processes and data analytics. We each bring strengths to the relationship and have a shared goal of driving value creation for clients,‘ he added.
