Legal Innovators Online – Day 3 – Starts 3.30PM (UK)

This is it! Day Three has arrived for Legal Innovators Online.

We have had a fantastic two days already, with plenty of great discussions covering everything from legal ops, to what we can learn from the Big Four, to how far the ‘More than Law’ strategy has already changed parts of the legal market.

Now, today, at 3.30PM (UK time – BST) we will be starting our third and final segment of the conference. First up will be a panel on how far automation has really impacted legal services and how far it can realistically go in terms of transforming service delivery. We have three great experts for this panel:

  • Nicola Shaver – Managing Director, Innovation and Knowledge – Paul Hastings
  • Bryon Bratcher – Managing Director – Gravity Stack (Reed Smith)
  • Alistair Wye – Lead Innovation & Technology Solutions Attorney – Latham & Watkins

Then we have a presentation by Everlaw, and then the second panel is going to be the grand finale of Legal Innovators Onlineor at least this edition of it!

The second panel, which starts around 5.15PM (UK – BST) is going to be all about the future, both the near term impact of the lockdown and also we will explore the wider and long-term trends of where things are heading now for the legal and legal tech worlds.

The objective is a no-holds-barred discussion and we really look forward to your questions. The panellists for the finale will be:

  • Jenifer Swallow – LawTech Delivery Panel and TechNation
  • Peter Lee – Partner & CEO – Simmons Wavelength
  • Nick Watson – Managing Director – Ruby Datum
  • Peter Buck – VP Product Strategy – NetDocuments

We look forward to seeing you then and answering your questions.

LIO Conference – How To Use Guide

If you have tickets you will have received a log-in email for the conference platform. Please have a look out for it if you haven’t got it already, you’ll need it to register for the event. Check your spam folders if you cannot see it yet.

Also, if you missed Day One or Two and you have a ticket, you can still watch everything in a recorded version online via the conference platform

The event today will start at 3.30PM this afternoon UK time, and you are very welcome to log-in earlier and have a look around, visit the virtual expo area, have a mingle in the conference chat rooms with other attendees, and take a peek at the speaker bios.

In fact, we have had many people making use of the conference networking functions (see below) both before and after the main event. Hope you all manage to connect with some new people! Attendees are also checking out the virtual expo hall and arranging to chat with the tech companies and advisory firms there, as well as downloading useful material you can find there.

On right – conference networking and live chat area. On left, menu that leads to virtual expo hall, the day’s schedule and speaker bios.

As before we will invite questions from the audience throughout the day, and will probably start feeding those through around half-way into the first panel, culminating in a full Q&A session. Have a look at the ‘Read More’ link on the right side of each text segment of the show to get to the Q&A and polling area.

To get to the Q&A and polling area to ask questions, please follow the ‘Read More’ text link in red on the right side of each presentation.

The platform will also be asking you to vote on polls that will be presented to you on the right side of the screen. So, check those out too.

We’re going to have a great discussion and our expert panels will hopefully answer lots of your questions. All in all, another fun afternoon, or morning, depending on where you are in the world.

Look forward to seeing you all very soon! And a massive thank you to all the excellent speakers and presenters from Day One and Two. You were awesome.

All the best

Richard Tromans, Founder, Artificial Lawyer and Event Chair.

P.S. the Twitter hashtag is #LIO – although on Day One and Two it looked like many people were communicating via the Conference chat function.

Today’s Schedule:

15:30 – 15:35 – Opening Remarks by Richard Tromans

15:35 – 16:20 – Panel: Automation and Reality – Many leading law firms have embedded the use of AI tools, no code workflow tools, and advanced KM and legal research systems. But how far has it all come in terms of actual use? What really has been automated? How has this helped? What benefits has it achieved so far? And where is it heading next?

Speakers:

  • Nicola Shaver – Managing Director, Innovation and Knowledge – Paul Hastings
  • Alistair Wye – Lead Innovation & Technology Solutions Attorney – Latham & Watkins
  • Bryon Bratcher – Managing Director – Gravity Stack (Reed Smith)

16:20 – 16:35 – Q&A

16:35 – 16:55 – Presentation – Everlaw

16:55 – 17:15 – Break – Networking via Conference Chat and Expo Hall Visits

17:15 – 18:00 – Panel: The Next New Normal? – Some are predicting that the legal world will be changed forever by the ongoing lockdown, with a surge toward digitization, in part brought about by the necessity of remote working. But, how much will really change? And is this just a continuation of a journey we started some time ago? Will the legal world really witness another ‘New Normal’, or will things revert to how they were before? We explore these questions and consider the future of legal services in our rapidly changing world – both in the short-term and the long-term.

Speakers:

  • Jenifer Swallow – LawTech Delivery Panel and TechNation
  • Peter Lee – Partner & CEO – Simmons Wavelength
  • Nick Watson – Managing Director – Ruby Datum
  • Peter Buck – VP Product Strategy – NetDocuments

And that will be the finale of the day. But, Legal Innovators Online will take place again soon. Look out for news of our next online event!
