Deloitte Legal Bags 3 Senior Managers from Elevate

Deloitte Legal has hired Jack Diggle to be the lead partner for its Legal Management Consulting arm. He was most recently global head of Elevate’s consulting group.

In addition, Craig Conte, also from Elevate is joining, who had a senior role in the contracts consulting group; plus Tom Birdseye, also previously in a senior role in the consulting group at Elevate.

It’s not clear whether this was an intentional raid on Elevate, or it’s just that Diggle and friends all fancied a move to a new place and Deloitte was a good fit. Either way, losing three senior managers to what is shaping up to be a direct rival for process-focused work is noteworthy.

The move also follows the recent hire of Emily Foges from Luminance to run its Legal Managed Services arm.

Diggle will be responsible for expanding Deloitte Legal’s offerings in the consulting space by ‘developing new capabilities and building on Deloitte Legal’s existing technology, change and operations teams’.

Diggle also previously headed up legal transformation at Barclays.

Michael Castle, UK managing partner at Deloitte Legal, said: ‘Today’s world requires a new approach to the delivery of legal services. Now more than ever, legal departments are having to address the challenge of dealing with increasing complexity and demand with the same or fewer resources.

‘Jack, Craig and Tom have a wealth of experience between them which will help these departments and contracting teams rethink their operating models, achieve greater efficiencies and increase the value they deliver back to the business. They are recognised market leaders and these appointments will ensure that Deloitte Legal continues its commitment to provide new and integrated solutions for clients.’

Jack Diggle, added: ‘General Counsel and legal departments are facing multiple challenges: a heightened regulatory environment, increased workloads and the acceleration of new digitally-enabled, agile operating models.’

Deloitte Legal is now made up of more than 2,500 professionals operating in more than 80 countries, with more than 250 people in the UK.
