Entity Governance Startup Kuberno Is A Rising Stars Winner

UK Government-backed Tech Nation has today announced the 10 winners of its fourth Rising Stars competition, which recognises ‘the brightest and best early-stage tech scaleups’, with Kuberno as the only legal tech company in the group.

Kuberno is a legal entity governance platform that provides ‘a unique secretariat practice management system’. Its co-founders are pictured above: Zoe Bucknell, Richard Wilson and Jay Dodd.

There seems to be growing interest in entity management and governance tech at the moment on both sides of the Atlantic. US-based Athennian is also doing plenty of work in this area and is seeking to upset the old way of doing things.

And here’s a short video about what Kuberno does:

Commenting on the win, Bucknell said: ‘’Innovative’ and ‘exciting’ are not two words usually associated with governance! The whole team at Kuberno is over the moon that our new entity governance SaaS platform has been recognised as just that as a winner of Rising Stars 4.0 – we are putting Governance Technology on the map! We are immensely grateful to the Tech Nation team for their support during the competition and look forward to continuing to work with them as we scale and kick off our first funding round to support our growth.’

Previous years’ Rising Stars Winners in the legal tech field have included SeedLegals and the awards are generally seen as a very useful stamp of approval that helps with future funding rounds.

This year’s winners were selected by a panel of seven judges, including Emma Jones (Founder of Enterprise Nation), Nahu Ghrebremichael (Partner at Singular Ventures) and Jess Jackson (Head of Investment at GC Angels). Also, Tech Nation partnered with law firm Pinsent Masons to deliver Rising Stars 4.0.

The organisation said that ‘as tech boomed over the last two years, almost three-quarters (70%) of this year’s Rising Stars 4.0 winners said that the pandemic sped up their business’ growth’.

As part of a survey of the market on the challenges for businesses in the Seed to Series A funding stage, they added that the top three challenges were: recruiting the right talent; accessing funding; and maximising growth initiatives (e.g. advertising, sales, marketing, PR and branding).

Looking ahead, Kuberno and all of the 10 Rising Stars 4.0 winners ‘will continue to be supported by the UK tech ecosystem as they are inducted into the Tech Nation alumni network’.

Congrats to all!
