iManage and fast-expanding legal research company vLex, which merged with Fastcase last year, have formed a partnership to support a number of close integrations that aim to enhance workflows and knowledge resources for their customers.
Earlier this month CLM companies Evisort and Icertis also formed a partnership, combining the former’s AI with the latter’s workflows. Two swallows don’t make a summer, but still, it will be interesting to see if more legal tech companies form very close partnerships.
Meanwhile, also earlier this month, iManage announced an integration between its iManage AI services and Microsoft’s LLM-driven Copilot. And yesterday they announced a partnership with HYCU, a leader in ‘data protection as a service’. They have been busy…!
Ed Walters, Chief Strategy Officer at vLex and previously CEO of Fastcase, told Artificial Lawyer: ‘We’re going to integrate in a bunch of ways [with iManage], but we’re announcing two today:
‘1) Securely add internal firm documents to skills in Vincent [the company’s main AI capability]. This allows firms to use their internal knowledge assets alongside the extensive vLex public law database to answer questions, draft arguments, compare jurisdictions, or analyze other documents. This adds generative AI capabilities to law firms’ internal knowledge libraries in a very powerful way.
‘I think this is the first real combination of private firm work product and public law for generative AI – at least I don’t know of another product that does this. It’s a big deal in part because of how good Vincent AI is, but don’t take my word for it, the American Association of Law Libraries just named it the 2024 New Product of the Year.
‘2) Automatically sync dockets between vLex’s Docket Alarm and iManage. This integration will automatically add new filings in state and federal courts to the client and matter in iManage. It will also sync to make sure that the final documents are as-filed and updated.’
For end users and organizations, this seamless integration delivers an enhanced user experience whilst ensuring they have access to the best private and public data, in a secure and robust way, the companies added in a statement.
And it is quite a combo: iManage says it ‘provides 4,000+ customers’ with their platform, while vLex is ‘trusted by more than two million lawyers, researchers, and government departments’ and covers more than 200 jurisdictions.
With the two initial integrations between the platforms, customers will benefit from a single view across internal best-practice know-how and publicly available legal data. For end users and organizations, this seamless integration delivers an enhanced user experience whilst ensuring they have access to the best private and public data, in a secure and robust way.
Neil Araujo, CEO, iManage, concluded in a statement: ‘We are proud to announce this collaboration, which will empower iManage customers by giving them trusted and specialist domain intelligence, at the point at which they need it – be that in iManage Work, Insight+ or Vincent AI.’
The new integrations will be available this summer, at no additional cost, to organizations subscribed to the relevant services from iManage and vLex, the companies added.
