Spellbook’s New Brand Chapter: The AI Suite for Transactional Lawyers

By Scott Stevenson, CEO, Spellbook.

Two years ago, Artificial Lawyer was the first to cover Spellbook, which was the first, humble, generative AI copilot for lawyers. Lawyers seemed to like the tool, but it was early. Then ChatGPT came out, and a whirlwind of growth occurred for us, and the whole industry.

Today marks a new chapter in Spellbook’s story – our refreshed brand identity – and positioning in the market.

Spellbook has grown to 2,600 customers in 50+ countries. We’ve also grown from a single-feature tool to become the most complete AI suite for transactional lawyers. Our new brand mirrors this growth, and helps explain the ‘facets’ of Spellbook.

Inspired by the editorial markup language of the past, we’ve introduced a new set of symbols to represent Spellbook’s core features. While these markups are rooted in history, they also feel magical, where each shape serves as a tool to conjure exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.

Our offering is now broken down into 5 clear features:

  • Review: For reviewing, and redlining contracts–this is our most popular feature
  • Draft: For drafting language with AI, or from your historical precedents
  • Ask: For getting fast, precise answers to contract and legal questions
  • Benchmarks: For comparing contracts to market standards
  • Associate: Our new AI agent which can do a wide variety of tasks for multi-document transactions

Just as importantly, our brand tells a story:

Many lawyers, including my co-founder Daniel, grew up fascinated by news, history and fantasy. They studied law to be close to the magic of people, their stories and their victories. And then they found themselves staring at Microsoft Word for 10 hours a day.

Our mission is to bring that magic back for transactional lawyers: eliminating document drudgery, and creating one of the most magical user experiences on the market.
