Elevate has bought Dutch ALSP Legadex, in its fourth M&A deal since early 2024 – and a clear sign that the ‘law company’ is still on an expansion drive at a time of considerable change in the managed services world because of AI. It’s also a commitment to further expansion into Europe.
They have also bought Sagacious IP, CJK Group, and Redgrave Data, since the start of last year.
Legadex founders Hans-Martijn Roos and Luc van Daele will join Elevate’s management team.
Founded in 2008, Legadex helps with legal operations and managed services for large corporations, scale-ups, and private equity investors. Perhaps most importantly these days is that it has expertise in AI integration. It serves over 300 customers, including publicly listed companies, financial institutions, and investment funds across sectors such as food, energy, pharmaceuticals, and technology, they said.
Roos, Co-Founder of Legadex, commented: ‘Joining forces with Elevate allows us to accelerate our mission of transforming legal service delivery through technology and innovation. We see tremendous opportunity to scale our impact and bring even more value to our clients.’
And, van Daele, Co-Founder of Legadex, added ‘Elevate shares our vision for the future of legal services. This partnership empowers our team to grow, innovate, and contribute to a global platform that is reshaping the legal industry.’
Liam Brown, Los Angeles-based Chairman and CEO of Elevate, concluded: ‘Legadex is a pioneer in legal innovation in the Netherlands. Their team, culture, and capabilities align perfectly with Elevate’s values and strategy. We’re excited to welcome them and collaborate to deliver even greater value to our customers across Europe and beyond.’
Is this a big deal? Well, Elevate is an ALSP OG, and has been round the block a few times now. Over the years they’ve made many acquisitions, from AI companies to other ALSPs and more. This recent spate of deals shows there is still plenty of ambition to grow the business, which has also developed its own tech stack, and expanded globally.
The new deal adds extra strength in Europe and no doubt will not be the last M&A deal it does. As noted, the move comes as the world of managed services and ALSPs gets increasingly shaken up by AI, with new hybrid AI law firms coming to market and more vendors going to the inhouse world offering contract review AI capabilities.
