India is increasingly seen as a key market for legal tech players, with Legora now forming an exclusive legal data partnership with locally-based Manupatra. The move comes not long after the Stockholm-based legal AI platform launched an office in the Indian tech centre, Bengaluru.
Harvey has also opened an office in India and the rivals are keen to gain clients in the country with 1.4 billion people, and with major law firms and several global companies based there. India also has its own well-established legal tech sector, with some companies building out internationally as well, such as SpotDraft.
This partnership strengthens Legora’s commitment to India, they stated, ‘a market offering the perfect conditions for legal innovation, driven by a tech-savvy lawyer population, rapidly digitizing legal systems, and a maturing legal services ecosystem’.
Manupatra is used by leading law firms, corporate counsel, government bodies, and academic institutions, they said. Its repository includes an extensive citation database covering more than 320 Indian journals and 130 international journals. It also provides a range of other legal tech tools, including for contract drafting and case management.
Under the exclusive agreement, Legora will be the only legal AI platform making Manupatra’s content accessible within its platform, providing users with access to source materials, case law, regulations, and scholarly commentary.
The deal adds to a growing list of connections to legal data sources that Legora has formed; below is a list of some of them:

Priyanka, COO, Manupatra, commented: ‘[We are] proud to partner exclusively with Legora to bring our comprehensive legal database to users in a way that supports modern legal workflows. This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing legal research and access to trustworthy information.’

Amit Kothiyal, Head of India at Legora (pictured above with team in Bengaluru), added: ‘Bringing Manupatra’s leading content into Legora’s platform represents a major leap forward for lawyers and legal teams across India. Together, we’ll empower professionals with the tools and data they need to innovate, deliver better client outcomes, and compete at the highest levels.’
