International law firm Simmons & Simmons has launched STRIDE, an AI-backed digital regulation tracker, which provides ‘a structured, live, global database, covering jurisdictions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East’.
STRIDE uses an MCP approach ‘allowing AI agents to directly query [it], whether as part of general LLM chat enquiries, or to build directly into AI-powered workflows’.
STRIDE stands for ‘Simmons Technology Regulation Intelligence for the Digital Economy’, and the firm explained that it’s necessary because of the ‘dozens of complex new laws each year across AI, data, platform regulation, cybersecurity, crypto, and quantum technologies’.
Moreover, the regulations covering all of this ‘vary widely between jurisdictions’, and another challenge is that ‘existing sources of information are often patchy and outdated’. The above areas also usually lack any kind of globally recognised benchmark.
So, this has driven Simmons to do something about it, and hence STRIDE.
They added that as far as they know ‘no other law firm offers a live, analyst-grade, horizon-scanning observatory for digital regulation, with rich detail, custom filtering, and modern tooling’.
The project has been led by Simmons partners: Christopher Götz, Emily Jones, Lawrence Brown, Calum Murray, and Rich Folsom.
Folsom, a specialist technology and data lawyer, commented: ‘STRIDE is designed to give businesses clarity and confidence in an era of accelerating regulatory and technological change.
‘There’s famously no such thing as ‘too much information’, just filter failure. It’s great to be able to bring modern tooling to this problem, empowering organisations to make informed decisions, manage risk, and stay ahead of what’s next.’
Congrats to the team behind this. A solid example of leveraging data and AI to create value, both for the firm and its clients.
