Lexis $$$, Spellbook / Google, Legal Innovators Nordics

We start this week’s Wrap with news that the Claude Crash earlier this year, which hit market sentiment and wiped billions off the value of listed tech companies, along with growing competition from multiple legal AI platforms, has not had much impact on LexisNexis’s revenues. In fact, they’ve done well.

The new financial data (see below), which covers the whole of RELX, the publicly listed entity to which Lexis belongs, shows that in H1 ‘legal’ grew from £900m in revenues last year, to £959m in 2026, which is a 7% increase. They added that ‘underlying growth’ was at 10%.

Those earnings – in just six months – meant that legal (i.e. Lexis) generated £208m in profits – an increase of 11%. In short, Lexis, despite competition, systemic shocks to markets caused by general LLMs taking aim at enterprise customers, is doing rather well.

And of course, investors panicking because Anthropic is targeting enterprise AI needs doesn’t necessarily change the real world demand of lawyers for X or Y legal tech tool. It just means the share price fluctuates.

So, as AL wrote about TR’s share price hit at the time of the Claude Crash, the legal data giants are better insulated against AI shocks than most other companies. In fact, their massive data stores make them even more valuable in the AI era.

Legal Innovators Nordics – April 27th, 2027 – Stockholm, Sweden

The other big news is that the Legal Innovators conference series is coming to the Nordics! Yes, the home of many leading legal tech companies and a vibrant legal market, will be the location of the latest Legal Innovators conference, taking place in Stockholm, Sweden on 27th April 2027.

It will be titled: Legal Innovators Nordics and bring together speakers and audience members from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and surrounding markets. Plus, of course, we look forward to welcoming folks from the US, UK and beyond who want to sample some awesome hygge.

As always, Cosmonauts will be organising and Artificial Lawyer’s founder, Richard Tromans, will be chairing the event. As readers know, AL has long been a massive fan of the Nordics, and really can’t wait to see you all there in April next year!

P.S. We will also be holding the very well attended Legal Innovators Paris conference again in 2027, on 29 and 30 June. And – see below – we are also well into gathering speakers and sponsors for our New York and London events this November as well. Please reach out to Cosmonauts for more information:

Right, and now onto some more news in classic Wrap style:

DISCO has announced that former Meta information security senior executive, Andre Mintz, has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Chairman of the Board, Scott Hill, commented: ‘Andre brings to DISCO a wealth of valuable data security experience earned in some of the largest and most challenging risk environments in the world.’

NewMod law firm Soxton, which focuses on helping early-stage startups with their legal needs has announced that it has helped more than 800 clients to save over $1 million in legal billable hours, in just seven months since its launch.

Soxton CEO, Logan Brown, commented: ‘As AI integration escalates, the legal industry will look completely different in the next 10 years. This major growth milestone for Soxton is an indicator that the startup ecosystem is ready for better, faster, and more affordable legal support.’

Spellbook has announced its integration with Google Docs. They told AL: ‘Right now, if a contract comes in as a Google Doc, legal teams have to download it, open it in Word, review it, then re-upload it as a Doc to send back. Today’s news bypasses that: Reviews, Playbooks, and Ask now run right inside Google Docs, redlines applied on the page – just like the Word plug-in version.’

They added that although Word still dominates, ‘over one billion people use Google Docs’ – and hence this move.

Greenshoe, an intelligence platform, has launched a new system that ‘monitors market and regulatory signals around the clock and delivers source-backed draft updates’. The Greenshoe platform runs on several layers of intelligence, continuously refreshed against EDGAR and the SEC rule library in real-time.

Payton McCoy, CEO and co-founder of Greenshoe, commented: ‘Public companies have always had an obligation to stay current—the technology simply hasn’t existed to make that practical. Today, market, regulatory, and governance developments happen continuously. Disclosure intelligence should too.’

Core platform capabilities include:

  • ‘Intelligence that Compounds: Turn every disclosure decision into institutional intelligence that grows over time.
  • Real-Time Peer Alignment: Compare language, structure, and emphasis against ranked peer cohorts.
  • Rule and Cite Engine: Every disclosure section mapped to its governing SEC rule and required elements, with complete form checks across every filing type and a fully auditable report.
  • Continuous Form Checks: Complete form checks across every filing type, with a fully auditable report.
  • Complete Markups: Export Word documents with redlines and comment bubbles, ready for review.’

Epiq has announced early access to expanded capabilities in Epiq AI Accelerate that streamline complex eDiscovery workflows by turning natural language queries into system-level actions.

The new capabilities allow legal teams to manage workspaces, act on data, and surface insights faster by reducing the manual steps required to execute time-consuming eDiscovery processes, they said.

The expanded capabilities are powered by Claude, Anthropic AI models, which interpret users’ natural-language requests. Epiq pairs Claude with a proprietary reasoning and execution layer that governs tool selection, reasoning, and workflow execution across its platforms, they added.

AL has published Part Three  of ‘The Innovators’. Will Katie and Tim survive the Project Rubicon press conference…?

OK, and now our AL Product Walk Through, this time with eBrevia and featuring its DraftPro capability + more.

And no Wrap would be complete without mentioning….
