Clio, the cloud-based legal technology company, is to once again host a $100,000 Launch//Code Contest to find ‘the next breakthrough integrations for legal professionals’. Which means: entrants will design and develop an app that integrates with Clio Manage – the case management system.
It’s a smart move by Clio, as it not only drives legal innovation – which is always good – but also it no doubt helps to create something that will be of use to Clio and its client base.
It’s quite a novel way of doing product development – offer a prize to the global legal tech sector and see what they can come up with. Maybe everyone should be doing this? Although, it does to some extent tie your future with Clio’s – which could be a great thing for many, but not all.
In return you get $100,000 – – – which is not bad, especially in the case for startups that might end up creating something that integrates with Clio in any case.
Jack Newton, CEO and Co-founder at Clio: ‘It’s an honour to support entrepreneurs working to solve the types of challenges unique to the legal industry. In hosting the $100,000 Launch//Code Contest, we hope to inspire innovations that will shape the practice of law. As consumer expectations evolve, these innovations are what will help lawyers meet client needs.’
Contest entries can range from apps that have previously demonstrated market traction to innovative new ideas yet to be tested.
Finalists will be invited to 2019 Clio Cloud Conference and have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges in front of conference attendees. The winning company or business will receive the $100,000 prize, but all entrants who complete the necessary requirements and are approved by Clio will be featured in Clio’s App Directory.
