Spark Legal Tech Dashboard Launches, Shows M&A + Funding Data

Legal tech research and analytics company Legal Complex has launched Spark, a new data-rich dashboard that provides detailed information on M&A and investment activity.

The information is shown in an interactive format that can be filtered across a number of variables, including legal tech company name, dates, values, application type and market segment, and where the company is based. Using the menus you can get whatever type of data slice you want, such as showing total investments over a given timeframe into a certain market segment.

Spark has been created by Netherlands-based Raymond Blijd, who used to work at Wolters Kluwer. He told Artificial Lawyer: ‘Spark is the culmination of five years of processing venture and M&A deal data.’

He added that he did this to help ‘identify trends and emerging sectors in the funding patterns of the legal tech and GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) industry, and to discover the consolidation trends within M&A activity.’

Below is an example of the dashboard.

At present the data runs from 2018 to today, and includes 1,440 investments and 516 M&A deals. These will steadily be added to. It’s available on a subscription basis.

This will no doubt be of interest to legal tech companies, investors and market researchers, as well as lawyers involved in legal tech funding and M&A.
