Three young companies have joined Mishcon de Reya’s MDR Lab as part of its ‘intensive product-focused programme’ for early stage start-ups. They are: Version Story, SettleIndex, and Amplifi.
Over the next three months, the companies will be based in the London offices in Holborn, working closely with lawyers and other stakeholders from around the MDR Group to improve their products and find product-market fit, the firm said.
The latest additions mean that MDR Lab has now worked with 30 early-stage legal tech businesses over the last five years of operation. The firm also has signed commercial agreements with nine MDR Lab companies, and invested in four of the businesses, including Time by Ping, Everchron, Thirdfort and most recently DraftWise, which took part in the Winter 2020 programme.
Here’s some more info on the new trio:
- Version Story (YCW21) – a version management tool that powers modern legal collaboration by helping lawyers who work in teams to compare and merge many document versions and organize a document’s history.
- SettleIndex – a financial and risk modelling platform that enables lawyers to model, visualise and evaluate disputes and collect and use data to inform litigation strategy (and AL covered them recently).
- Amplifi– an intelligibility tool that helps lawyers objectively assess and simplify the language used in contracts and other legal documents, making it easier for customers and consumers to understand and engage with the content.
The move is part of a widened MDR Lab approach that now welcomes a wider range of companies at different stages of development throughout the year.
Jess Murphy, MDR Lab Programme Coordinator said: ‘We identified a number of opportunities during the application process in 2021 and are delighted to have now converted many months of conversations into something tangible. We are excited to get going again, especially in person.’
And Dan Sinclair, Head of MDR Lab, concluded: ‘Given the growth of the legal tech ecosystem and pace of change, scouting the market and using technology to help solve problems for our core business and for our clients has become a permanent activity. Despite only saying goodbye to the three businesses who were with us at the start of the year, we are delighted to welcome these companies to the firm.’
As ever, great stuff. Keep up the good work MDR Lab.
