Listed Law Firm DWF Hires Rachita Maker For ALSP Role

Publicly listed law firm, DWF, has appointed Rachita Maker to the new role of Global Head of Legal Operations, Technology and Consulting for its Mindcrest ALSP division.

Maker (above) joins DWF’s alternative legal services branch from Tata Communications in Mumbai, India, where she was Head of Legal Operations and Compliance. Prior to this, she held senior roles at EY and Integreon, the firm said.

She will now oversee teams in the USA, UK and India in this new global role. She has more than 20 years of legal operations and legal technology experience working with clients in sectors such as telecommunications, banking and finance and healthcare, they added.

Maker commented: ‘I’m pleased to join DWF and look forward to working with the Mindcrest team to expand our legal operations, technology and consulting expertise.

‘The legal market is transforming and client needs are evolving at a rapid pace which is reflected in an increasing focus on technology and consulting. I’m looking forward to working with general counsel and their heads of legal operations to tackle everything from legal team vision and strategy through to spend management, legal tech implementation and knowledge management. We can collaborate to develop lean ways to process contracts but can also support litigation management and compliance.’

The new appointment follows on from the internal appointment of Emma Roe as Head of Legal Operations Consultancy in May.

Roe leads the Legal Ops Consultancy service in the UK, offering clients the advice needed to transform their legal operations. She also works closely with in-house counsel to find their own route to improvement for their legal function; analysing their data, developing their people and processes and introducing the right fit in enabling technology.

Together they head up a multi-disciplinary team of technical specialists, process experts, data and business analysts, project managers and legal technologists to support their provision of ‘Legal Operations as a Service’.
