Walk Through: LawVu Draft – Contract AI

This week’s AL TV Product Walk Through is all about LawVu Draft, an AI-powered contract drafting and review toolbox embedded inside Microsoft Word.

It’s built for law firms and inhouse legal teams. Taking us through the video is Senne Mennes, the co-founder of ClauseBase, which was acquired by LawVu last year.

Overview:

LawVu Draft combines the speed of AI with the certainty and consistency of precision tools. Grounded in your own clauses, precedents, and playbooks, LawVu Draft enforces your standards and enables faster contracts without the variability that creates risk.

The walkthrough touches on LawVu Draft’s five core capabilities:

Draft: Turn templates and precedents into tailored drafts in minutes, generate clauses instantly, and simplify complex language into instant summaries.

Review: Automatically redline contracts using your preferred language, enforce playbook standards, and surface risks and inconsistencies in real time.

Ask: Analyse your documents, get instant answers, and generate ready-to-use, layout-aware responses to insert into your drafted contracts.

Refine: Use AI to catch technical errors, improve readability, compare documents, and refine language – preserving your formatting and intent.

Knowledge: Capture and organise your best clauses, templates, playbooks, and precedent contracts in a shared knowledge base that compounds over time.

LawVu Draft is an evolution of ClauseBase. ClauseBase was founded in 2019 by Maarten Truyens, Senne Mennes, and Robbert Jacobs, three former lawyers with over 20 years of combined contract drafting experience. In 2025, ClauseBase was acquired by LawVu, the leading global operating system for in-house legal, trusted by teams at Discord, Etsy, Employment Hero, and many more.

About Senne Mennes:

Senne started his professional career as a lawyer at an international law firm. After a few years in private practice, he co-founded ClauseBase where he was responsible for helping legal teams improve their drafting and reviewing work and experience value from the software. He continues that same responsibility as Customer Experience Lead for LawVu Draft after ClauseBase was acquired by LawVu in 2025.
