Usman Wahid, who was previously a partner and head of the Technology & Data legal team at Big Four firm KPMG – and also was once a partner at BCLP – has joined tech-led law firm Three Points.
In addition, Wahid is the co-founder of VennSpace, a legal AI platform for procurement, contracting and supply chain relationship management. As a result the product will become part of the firm and will launch as its ‘Flow’ service line.
Flow will be providing support to legal and procurement teams in ‘automating multiple levels of a transaction using agentic AI and the organisation’s internal knowledge base’, they noted. He left KPMG in December 2024 and launched VennSpace in January 2025. He was at BCLP, (then BLP), for 14 years.
Three Points launched in 2025 in London and works across Technology, Sports and Commercial/IP law, serving clients including tech unicorns, leading AI providers, FTSE-listed businesses, they said.
It doesn’t describe itself as a NewMod, or as an AI-first law firm, and is instead perhaps best seen as a legal boutique that uses a lot of tech.
They added: ‘Unlike traditional firms weighed down by legacy systems and outdated billing models, we’ve built Three Points with technology at its core.
‘We’re not constrained by the billable hour or antiquated ways of working. Instead, we use AI-powered contract analysis, automated compliance monitoring, and data-driven insights to deliver better outcomes more efficiently.’
They said that Wahid ‘has worked on some of the most innovative technology transactions including advising BC Group (a leading Asian publicly listed digital asset group) on a joint venture to create one of EMEA’s leading digital asset ventures, a government owned client on one of the UK’s most significant clean tech arrangements as well as multiple digital transformation projects each with contract values in the hundreds of millions’.
He will focus on FinTech and other B2B tech deals as well as digital transformation and complex outsourcing projects.
Wahid commented: ‘Having followed the ground-breaking approach that Three Points has taken to delivering legal services since launch, I am incredibly excited to be joining in this exciting stage of the firm’s journey. The firm has a clear mission to combine top-level legal experience with some of the most innovative legal tech tools from around the world, and ultimately deliver a more seamless and cost-effective service for the benefit of its growing list of clients.’
Simon Leaf, co-founder of Three Points Law – and previously a partner at Mishcon de Reya – said: ‘Usman is a recognised leader in technology law and innovation in the legal tech space. So when we heard there was an opportunity for him to join us and for us to incorporate VennSpace into our own offering, we seized the moment. This is a real coup for us and our clients in this exciting growth phase for the firm.’
Overall, an interesting move, especially as this remains at heart ‘a law firm’, it’s just got a lot of tech running through it!
Congrats to them. More about the firm here.
